December and Christmas at Vessel Beer Shop

It’s nearly December, so here is some updated information about our plans for the festive season, including gift ideas and our birthday celebrations.

December Opening Hours

We are extending our opening hours on weekdays throughout December, so we will close at 10pm instead of 8pm every day except Sunday:

  • Mondays: Closed as normal
  • Tuesday to Thursday: Open 11am, extended to 10pm close
  • Friday and Saturday: Open normal hours 11am to 10pm
  • Sundays (including Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve): Open normal hours 11am to 8pm

Special days during December

  • Friday 22nd December: Open 11am to 6:30pm. We are closed from 6:30pm for a private event.
  • Christmas Day, Monday 25th December: We will be open for a few festive beers from 12pm to 3pm. We will also crack open some special beers from our private ‘cellar’.

January Opening Hours

We will take a short break at the start of January:

  • Monday 1st January to Friday 5th January: CLOSED
  • Saturday 6th January: Reopen with normal hours.

Expect more news of #tryanuary events we will be holding during January including ticketed events on Saturday 13th and 27th of January.

 

Gifts

We have perfect gifts for the beer lover in your life (or for yourself – feel free to drop hints to your friends and family):

Gift boxes – 3 bottle, 6 bottle or 6 can gift boxes. The boxes cost £1, plus the take-out price of whatever you choose to put in them. If you’re not sure what to choose, we can help you pick a selection from the fridges to suit any taste.

Sharing bottles – we have a range of beers in large bottles, ideal for a special treat. We now also have bottle bags for 60p to make your gift look pretty.

Growlers – refillable glass bottles for take-out draught beer – the gift that keeps on giving! Empty growlers cost £7.50 for the large (1.89 litre) flagon, and £5.50 for the small (750ml) nugget. We give a 20% discount on draught beer for take-out. When filled using our growler filling machine, the beer in the growler will last for at around 2-3 weeks until the bottle is opened.

Gift vouchers – if you don’t know what to pick, or want to give a more lightweight gift, we have vouchers in £5 and £10 denominations.

Glassware – we have a small range of branded glassware from various breweries, some of which is suitable for inclusion in a gift box alongside beers from the fridges.

Merch – we now have Vessel branded T-shirts and tote bags – the must have fashion items for 2018!

 

Birthday Celebrations

We’ve almost made it to our first birthday! We opened our doors to the public on Saturday 10th December 2016.

To celebrate our birthday, the tap list will include some of our favourite beers and breweries over the first 12 months. We will also be launching Vessel IPA, our collaboration with Black Flag, a local brewery we have stocked since day one, who have put out some brilliant beers this year including the amazing Juiceadelic.

On Saturday 9th December we will be doing an offer enabling you to try all six beers on tap for a reduced price (the same as we have done for our meet the brewer events). The first ten people into the shop on the day will also get a free drink of our Vessel IPA. We will also be giving out raffle prizes throughout the day.

On Sunday 10th December we will be celebrating our monthly Sour Sunday in style with a guided tasting of six amazing sour beers, you must pre-book for this event, so please ensure you pop into the shop and pay as soon as possible. Bookings

If you want to hold a festive gathering at Vessel, we are taking bookings for Tuesday-Thursday. You can book a table, or for groups of 20 or more, you can book the whole venue.

Depending on the size of the group, we can also offer bespoke beer tastings, and provide food.
