Tryanuary 2018
15.12.17January is always a slow month for the beer industry, with many people deciding to take a break from drinking after the excesses of December. However this makes it a hard month for small independent breweries that we’re so keen to support.
Tryanuary is your opportunity to support these businesses by trying something new or different. Come in to the shop and have a chat with us about the beers we stock, and pick out something you’ve never had before.
At Vessel Beer Shop we are going to put on four events during January to support this cause.
On Saturday 6th January we welcome our friends Stannary Brewing Co. from Tavistock to the shop to do a bottle tasting of their core range. From 12:30pm Chris and Garry will be here to discuss their beers, and we’ll do a special offer enabling you to try their range.
On Friday 12th January we’ll host a tasting event of aged beers. This will be a range of cellared beers, including the classic Thomas Hardy’s Ale bottled in 1996. This coincides with the death of Thomas Hardy who died on 11th January 1928.
On Friday 19th January we welcome our second local brewery to the shop. Roam Brewing Co. is Plymouth’s newest brewery, formed from the team behind award winning Tavy Ales. Expect to try their new range of fresh, modern beers.
On Sunday 28th January we’ll hold a blind tasting event. This will be like our regular beer tasting events but with a difference. Five beers for £15 as normal, but we won’t reveal what the beers are until after you’ve tried them. The aim is to get people thinking about the actual beer, and not to be swayed by branding, untappd ratings, etc.
We believe that exploration is a better New Year’s resolution than deprivation, and Tryanuary is a great opportunity to explore beer styles or breweries you’ve never tried before.
(Also to note, we will be closed for the first week of January, reopening on the 6th)
