13.12.16Whilst Vessel’s primary focus is beer, we wanted to stock a small selection of other drinks of equal quality to our beer selection.
When choosing wines we want wanted to ensure we stocked sustainable wines, which are either organic or biodynamic. Over time we’d also like to introduce the funkier natural wines we’ve enjoyed in the past.
Gran Cerdo, Tempranillo, 13% ABV
Gran Cerdo is all about the purest expression of fruit with whole bunch fermentation, no filtration, no stabilization and minimal sulphur. The winemaker, Gonzalo Gonzalo is a legend (and not just for his name) because he has proved that you can make a fantastic biodynamic Rioja. The nose and flavours are an intoxicating combination of red and dark berries, faint lavender (or violets) and a slightly earthy edge. The herbaceous flavours gives the wine a slight green finish with a little spice, while the tannin and acidity cry out for some red meat.
Notre Sur, Chardonnay, 13% ABV
This organic Chardonnay from Dominio de Punctum is a light gold in colour. Tropical aromas of mango and pineapple fill the nose. The palate is soft with flavours of apple, peach and mango. Full and round in the mouth with a refreshing streak of acidity, and tropical fruits lingering on the palate.
Borgo Alato, Prosecco Spumante, 11% ABV
Made using organic grapes, this Prosecco is pale light yellow colour, and has a delicate and complex bouquet with fruity notes reminiscent of peach and green apple. There are also good secondary notes of acacia and lilac. Fresh and light on the palate with balanced acidity.
