Wylam Brewery

06.01.17

We’re excited to a range of Wylam’s beers for the first time. We’ve enjoyed these beers when living up north, as well as chatting to the larger-than-life Dave Stone from the brewery at beer events. They’re a massively ambitious brewery, originally founded in 2000 in the Northumberland village of Wylam, and now based in the spectacular Palace of Arts in Exhibition Park, Newcastle, which also houses their tap room.

Nomi Sorachi, Pale Ale, 5.3% ABV
Single hopped with the unique Sorachi Ace, a very distinctive hop that’s made its way to brewers across the world from its birthplace in Japan. Dill pickle on the nose, followed by the taste of Lemon Grass, Crushed Coriander and Citrus.

Hickey the Rake, Pale Ale, 4.2% ABV
A Limonata Pale… An Ultra Pale which emulates almost toxic levels of citrus zing. A sherbet dib-dab of lemon, lime and tropical pineapple.

Remain in Light, Pale Ale, 5% ABV
A Super Stacked Alpha Pale… featuring lots of big US hops: Citra, Simcoe, Chinook and Centennial.

Jakehead, IPA, 6.3% ABV
Wylam’s flagship beer. A supercharged India Pale Ale…. Rich/bright & amber/bronze with lots of American hop aroma. Distinctly bittersweet on the palate with a massive hop complexity fashioned deep within the IPA tradition, and a great malty backbone.
